Badland Batteries 12S | 16.8 Ah Lithium-Ion Battery

IMPORTANT NOTICE: All instructions and precautions must be read carefully and followed exactly before product use. Before using your new battery for the first time, charge your pack fully and consult your vehicle user manual to ensure you are running at the proper settings for the battery type.

WARNING: It is possible to cause serious damage to your device, person or property with improper use. To avoid risk of fire, explosion, personal harm or damage to property, do not: disassemble, short circuit, puncture, incinerate, crush, immerse in or expose to liquids, or expose to temperatures below -10°C or above 60°C.

Before each use, check the following:

  1. Check for damage to the battery. If any damage is present, don’t use the battery.

  2. Ensure the battery is secured correctly to the vehicle.

  3. Ensure the state of charge is appropriate prior to use.

General use

  1. The battery will generate heat during use. Never allow the pack temperature to rise above 70°C during use as cell damage or fire may occur. Warm ambient temperatures, high initial pack temperatures and heavy loads will generally lead to higher pack temperatures during use.

  2. In case of cold ambient or initial pack temperatures, prewarm before use. The use of batteries below 0°C will result in a permanent reduction in battery capacity.

  3. Monitor state of charge and cell voltages while in flight. Pay close attention to cell voltages when the state of charge is below 10%.

  4. Never allow a cell to drop below 3.0V or permanent damage to the cell will occur.

  5. It is dangerous to draw more power than what the battery pack is rated for. This could cause permanent damage to the pack and vehicle.

Charge / Discharge

  1. Only use a charger designed for lithium polymer (LiPo) batteries.

  2. Never leave the battery unattended while charging.

  3. Do not attempt to charge the battery in temperature environments above 40°C or below 10°C, or if the pack temperature is over 45°C or below 0°C.

  4. Avoid deep discharge. Even one over discharge will lead to permanent damage.

  5. State of charge estimation is on a pack basis and not on a cell basis. Therefore there is a risk of undervolting cells in a near-empty region.

  6. By default, the battery self discharges to a storage voltage. But if manually discharging the battery is desired, discharge to 50% of nominal battery capacity.

Battery storage

  1. Store in a temperature-controlled space (preferably between 20°C and 30°C), away from moisture and sources of heat.

  2. Keep the battery out of the reach of children.

  3. Cycle batteries at least once per month since leaving them unused for a prolonged time can cause the packs to become out of balance, swell, or overly discharge.

  4. Dispose of battery only at an appropriate hazardous waste disposal site.
